This Cookie Policy describes what cookies are, which ones SpicePan sets, why we set them, and how you can control them. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Comparable technologies, including localStorage, pixels and software development kits, are covered by the same terms in this policy.
Categories we use
- Strictly necessary – make the site work: the session cookie that lets an editor reach the admin area, security cookies protecting our comment and contact forms, and the preference cookie that records whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies. These cannot be turned off, because the site would not function without them.
- Performance and analytics – show us which recipes and blends readers actually return to, where visitors came from, and which pages lose people. This informs what we test next. The data is aggregate; we do not build a personal profile.
- Functional – remember your choices, such as newsletter opt-in state, comment details so you do not retype your name, and display preferences.
- Advertising and targeting – set by our ad partners to serve relevant ads, limit repetition and measure campaigns. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom these load only after consent via our cookie banner; elsewhere they may run on a legitimate-interest basis with an opt-out.
First-party and third-party cookies
First-party cookies come from spicepan.com. Third-party cookies are set by services we embed – ad networks, analytics, social share buttons and video players – and their lifetimes are governed by those providers, not by us.
How long they last
Session cookies disappear when you close the browser. Persistent cookies used for preferences and measurement generally live between 30 days and 13 months. Advertising identifiers may be refreshed by the vendor within the limits of its own policy.
Controlling cookies
- Use the cookie banner on any page to accept, reject or customise non-essential categories. Your choice is remembered on later visits.
- Change your browser settings to block or delete cookies (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all document the steps).
- Opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry opt-out pages linked from the Privacy Policy and through each ad network settings page.
- Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in, comments and other features.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal where our tooling supports it: a visitor sending GPC is treated as having opted out of sharing personal information for advertising.
Updates
We review this policy whenever we add a service that stores or reads information on your device, and we update the revision date at the bottom of the page. Questions: [email protected].
